The Pragati Project is a rural poverty alleviation initiative that aims to upskill women workers in the Calcutta region, secure meaningful employment, provide access to knowledge of Fair Trade working conditions, and promote sustainability and ethical consumerism in urban Indian markets. With awareness and advocacy at its core, Pragati aims to accomplish its goals through a multistage engagement which includes educational materials, a skill-building program, which aims to empower local women in jute and jute bag manufacturing, and the creation of a line of special jute bags, elaborating on the purpose of the Pragati Collection.
